The 'Marina' has gorgeous bark, with leaves that are smaller and not as glossy as Pacific Madrone. Its flowers are pink, borne in pendant clusters in the summer. The fruit is large, red and quite ornamental. The plant should be grown in sun to part shade, with little or no summer watering when established. The California Sycamore is a fast growing deciduous tree that reaches up to 40'-50' high. It tolerates heat, smog, as well as moist conditions; it is native to riparian areas. It can be drought tolerant once it's established if there is a high water table. It has interesting mottled bark when the tree is bare in winter. Leaves in fall are gold, red and orange, creating litter. It is beautiful all year round.

This clumping perennial will grow less than 1' tall and has narrow, blue green leaves. Clusters of lavender flowers bloom in spring and summer. Leaves and flowers have a distinct onion or garlic smell if crushed.

These summer-blooming perennials form clumps with large, grass-like leaves. Blue green, dense, 24" tall foliage makes an excellent landscape statement. Scarlet blooms shine in the heat. Daylilies prefer full sun and regular watering. Provide well draining, rich soil. Cut spent flowers to encourage reblooming.

It can reach a height of 12"-15", and dark blue flowers spikes can be seen held above the leaves during the summer.
